We have taken pride in our home, as it is the home in which we raised our two girls. Cleanliness is always our first priority along with comfort. Two Ionizer are used for 6-8 hours and then the windows in the home are left open overnight. All bedding is washed in hot water. Both bedrooms have luxurious beds, bedding and pillows for a perfect nights sleep. The backyard gives you the solitude of a parklike setting. Our Redwood Outdoor shower is a real treat! The Barn House at Stonewall Ranch was spared by the Carr Fire, thanks to the outstanding efforts of firefighters. A terrible housing shortage has been caused in our area by the Carr Fire and the Camp Fire. We have made it available for a family to live in as a longer-term rental. Stonewall Ranch is home to a variety of wildlife--the California black bear, wild turkey, the rare ringtail cat, the endangered martin/fisher, and herds of deer freely roam the mountain. Our guests are more likely to see deer pass by on their way to the creek, than cars on the quiet country lane that leads to the property. A paradise for hikers and mountain bicyclists, the property abuts the backside of Whiskeytown NRA, a veritable wilderness. Ample parking is available for two cars next to the front gate and for large vehicles, including RVs (no hookups), there is a large turnout across the road. One or two well-behaved dogs are welcome. There is a small fenced yard, and a large meadow that is ideal for doggy play and exercise. The Barn House at Stonewall Ranch is just 20 minutes from Redding, but it feels like a world away. In some ways it is. There are no gas stations, supermarkets or convenience stores once you leave Redding. There is a small general store in Igo that is open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. for essentials, as well as milk, bread, beer and cigarettes. There are no hard-liquor sales in Igo. The Igo Store also serves breakfast on Sunday morning, and during the week hamburgers and deli sandwiches are available. The Barn House at Stonewall Ranch has basic cable TV and satellite internet. Open flames are not allowed anywhere on the property. Smoking is not permitted inside the Barn House. Smoking is allowed on the exterior decks away from open windows and doors. E-cigarettes and vapes may be used inside the Barn House, so long as they do not emit a strong odor. The Barn House is air conditioned and has an overhead fan in the great room for warm weather, and a tower fan. It also has a propane heating stove, as well as a pellet insert for the fireplace for chilly temperatures.

Heat Pump: We have installed a high caliber top of the line heat pump for our pool in September 2020, which extends our swimming season several months (either side of winter). The heat pump uses ambient air temperature to heat the pool during the day. Our installer says we should be able to swim in the pool through November and start using the pool as early as February/March. Our pool temperatures dropped in September to 73 degrees and after we installed the heat pump the temperature went back up to above 80 degrees. Since it’s new, we don’t know exactly how it will work, but certainly it has been great so far!!

Our Downtown Studio was recently renovated. Being a downstairs studio we kept our colors light and bright. Located in downtown Redding close to new breweries and restaurants. 5 Minute drive from Interstate 5. We live upstairs, but the studio has a private entrance. One thing to note: the driveway and access to the studio are a little steep.

The large front windows frame the sycamores that line the street and shade the cottage in the summer. With central heat and air conditioning, the cottage is comfortable year-round. The front bedroom also faces Orange Avenue, with a view of the front rock creekbed, garden, and sycamores. Furnished with a very comfortable new king bed with bedside tables with lamps. All towels and linens are new, 100% cotton, and laundered with organic, unscented cleanser. The short hallway, with original redwood floors, contains the original built-in cabinets, also of heartwood redwood. The updated tiled bathroom offers basic toiletries - hand soap, shampoo, liquid shower soap, conditioner, toilet paper. The walk-in shower has an optional hand held shower head, wooden vanity with sink, and plenty of counter space. The 2nd bedroom has original hardwood floors, and two windows with blinds and black-out shades for ventilation and light. Both windows look out at the beautifully landscaped yard, with large shade trees. Furnished with a very comfortable new queen bed with cloth frame, Ikea dresser, and bedside table with lamp. With a wrap around view of the back yard, you feel like you are in a secret garden. The large windows open to let in the early morning cool breeze, and the morning light floods the room. The chair by the window beckons - grab a good book, and relax! It is private, quiet, and so very serene and lovely. A perfect spot for an afternoon nap. The Laundry room has a new washer and dryer. The washer works fast and efficiently, as does the dryer. You will find a few laundry pods of organic, natural, scent free Seventh Generation soap, as well as natural whitening cleanser to get your laundry needs started. The kitchen of Hummingbird Cottage is filled with light. You will find all of your modern appliances - coffee maker, electric kettle, Melitta pour-over coffee carafe & filter, crockpot, blender, toaster, casserole dishes, cookie sheets, new pots and pans, glassware, cutlery. There is even an old Betty Crocker cookbook for those of you who want to take a trip through time, back to grandma's recipes, and look up an old favorite. The stove, oven, microwave and refrigerator are modern and new! The new walnut dining table has four comfortable chairs. In the small closet in the kitchen, you will find one of the many secrets of Hummingbird Cottage - one of its' 2 hidden chimneys! If you find the other one, let us know..... The little dining nook is lovely, put up the blinds, open the windows, and enjoy the breeze, bird song, and if you're here in the spring, you will have the show of your life - hummingbirds own the bottle brush tree just outside the windows! They will sometimes hover right in front of the window, and stare right in at you! Makes you wonder who is watching who! As you may have guessed, Hummingbird Cottage took its' name from these lovely visitors. All the window shades are new black out shades, and only take a light touch to raise or lower - they really help with insulation from both heat and cold, and add to the privacy of Hummingbird Cottage.

Under the big house is a complete and separate unit that is rented out full time , There is no common doors or access between the two except the outside stairs. You’ll love our place because it's on a quiet tree lined street in the desirable Garden Tract. Walking distance to downtown, Civic Center, Turtle Bay, Sundial Bridge, and the River Trails. 8 minute drive to Bethel Church. This is an older home that has been renovated. It still needs some updates but it is a great little house if you aren't too picky about everything being modern or brand new.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families for 30 night minimum stay. The main bedroom has a queen size bed and closet. The 2nd bedroom has a queen size bed and 2 twin size bunk beds. The bathroom has a shower/tub combo. There is a 2nd studio apartment unit on the back of the property that is also available for rent should you need it for larger groups.

The cottage sleeps a total of 4 persons between a California king bed and an additional sleeper sofa with an upgraded mattress. The linens and blankets are luxurious and extra pillows are available in the bath closet. A fully equipped kitchenette has a sink, microwave, refrigerator, coffee brewer, toaster oven, electric skillet, and more. The dining table seats 4. Guests are welcome to use several lovely outdoor dining gazebos and a BBQ is available as well. Limited laundry use is available upon request. Our above-ground pool is available between May 1 and September 30. Children under the age of 16 must have parental supervision at all times. We love children but the cottage is not set up for those under the age of 12. We love pets as well but regretfully cannot allow them to join you on your visit.
